With this guide, we want to help you correctly take the measurements of a boy who will wear a suit, admiral suit, or sailor suit for his First Communion.
All First Communion suits are made in standard sizes. For this reason, it is important to take the measurements correctly so that we can order them in the closest standard size, according to the boy's measurements.
Then, at the first fitting, we will make the precise adjustments so that our seamstresses can make the necessary alterations. This way, at the second fitting, the suit will fit your child perfectly, and he will look impeccable on his Communion day.
In some cases, there are brands that accept custom-made or personalized suits, which incurs a significant additional cost. Nevertheless, if you want your child's suit to be custom-made, do not hesitate to let us know. We will contact the manufacturer and inform you in detail about model options, delivery times, and prices so you can make a decision.
Below, even though this is something we do in our boutique, we provide a guide on how to correctly take measurements for a Communion suit, as well as an explanatory video, in case you find it useful.

BACK: Measure from shoulder to shoulder.
CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE: Place the tape measure around the child's torso, under the armpits, leaving enough slack for one finger to fit between the tape measure and the child. You should add one (1) centimeter to this measurement for every three (3) months remaining until the Communion or photo session.
WAIST: Place the tape measure around the body two fingers above the navel, leaving enough slack for one finger to fit between the tape measure and the child. You should add one (1) centimeter to this measurement for every three (3) months remaining until the Communion or photo session.
HIP: Place the tape measure around the hip, leaving enough slack for one finger to fit between the tape measure and the child. You should add one (1) centimeter to this measurement for every three (3) months remaining until the Communion or photo session.
SLEEVE LENGTH: Measure from the end of the shoulder to the wrist along the outside of the arm.
PANTS LENGTH: Measure from the back, with the shoe to be worn, from the waist to the top of the shoe's heel.
We also recommend adding 1 cm to the chest and waist measurements for every three months remaining until Communion, and adding 1 cm to the length for every two months remaining until Communion. While this is never exact, it is very close and will surely help you.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SIZE
The two most reliable ways to find out what shoe size a child should wear are:
1st. Removing the insole.
One way to choose the right shoe size for a child is to remove the insole, if possible. Once removed, it should be measured against the child's foot. Ideally, there should be about one centimeter of length extra, and the widest part of the foot should align with the widest part of the insole or shoe.
2nd. Tracing the outline of the foot.
If the insole is not removable, a technique that can be used is to draw the outline of the child's foot on cardboard or a sheet of paper. To do this, hold the child's foot without resting it on the ground and trace the sole onto the cardboard or paper. This should be done to prevent soft areas from widening when bearing vertical weight. After this, you would simply insert the false insole into the desired shoe and see if it fits well.

The insole drawn on cardboard or paper should be done for both feet, as the two feet are not identical. One may be wider than the other, longer, or have a different toe. This can lead to the right foot feeling uncomfortable while the left foot feels very comfortable.
