Guide to taking measurements for a communion girl

With this little guide, we want to help you correctly take the measurements of a girl who is going to wear a communion dress.

All communion dresses are made in standard sizes, and for this reason, it is important that the measurements are taken correctly, so that we can order the dress in the standard size closest, according to measurements, to that of the girl.

Then, during the first fitting, we will make the necessary adjustments so that our seamstresses can make the necessary adjustments, so that during the second fitting the dress will fit your daughter, and she will look impeccable on the day of her communion.

In some cases, there are firms that accept custom-made or bespoke dresses, which will have a significant additional cost. However, if you want your daughter's dress to be custom-made, don't hesitate to let us know; we will contact the manufacturer and inform you in detail about the model options, delivery times and prices, so that you can make your decision.

Below, and although this is something that we do in our boutique, we leave you a guide on how to take measurements for a communion dress, and also an explanatory video, in case it is useful to you.

1. CHEST : Place the tape measure around the girl's torso, leaving enough room for a finger to fit between the tape measure and the girl.

2. WAIST : Place the tape measure around the body, two fingers above the navel, leaving enough room for a finger to fit between the tape measure and the girl.

3. TOTAL LENGTH : Measure from the base of the neck to the floor, always with the girl upright, facing forward, and wearing shoes. To this measurement you must add about 2-4 centimetres for the petticoat (depending on the model) and 1 centimetre for every two months remaining until the communion.

4. BACK : we measure from shoulder to shoulder.

5. ARM : we measure the circumference of the arm and leave a finger in between.

6. SLEEVE LENGTH : we measure from the shoulder, bending the arm, passing through the elbow, and giving the desired sleeve length.

We also recommend that you add 1 cm to your chest and waist measurements for every three months until your communion. Although this is never exact, it is very approximate and will certainly help you.

We hope these tips have been helpful to you.
